Consider joining CNAs Actuarial Filings team as a Senior Actuarial Consultant. This team is responsible for all Commercial and Specialty rate filings including proprietary and bureaubased products which makes the team a key partner for improving and sustaining profitability across the organization. In this role you will work collaboratively with Underwriting and Actuarial leaders to influence and advise strategies focused on sustained profitable performance. You will also ensure efficient compliant and errorfree execution. This role also provides ample opportunity to act on opportunities to improve templates tools and best practices that ensure a unified and trusted actuarial voice both internally and externally. You will also maintain close working relationships with Legal and Compliance leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Advises pricing actuaries and underwriters on filing strategy and equips them with relevant regulatory insights that will influence rate change decisions. Collaboratively develops improves and implements innovative practical and impactful filing strategies.
- Reviews and submits rate filings performs actuarial certifications and contacts regulatory agencies and rating bureaus as necessary. Acts as subject matter expert on filing requirements and expected regulatory approval timelines.
- Closely manages project teams including acting as primary advisor on project management strategy and communication to key stakeholders enforcing best practices and optimizing available resources.
- Modernizes the actuarial methods and efficiencies of existing pricing tools including rate level indication templates utilized to support rate filings. Identifies and implements actionable improvements to team processes and/or templates.
- Targets important areas for innovation and develops solutions leveraging appropriate technology that address meaningful work issues for the team.
- Identifies and implements best practices to ensure adequate documentation training compliance and areas that may improve the speed of filing approvals and external view of CNA by state departments of insurance.
- Acts as subject matter expert on California filings including compiling and reviewing California filings advising on California filing strategy to key stakeholders and strengthening the relationship between CNA and the California Department of Insurance.
- Actively engages and builds relationships with multiple functional groups (Legal Compliance Rate Implementation/Technology Underwriting Services Government Relations Underwriting and Actuarial Pricing). Facilitates communication and technical guidance to these groups on actuarial issues.
- Provides guidance to less experienced team members and may lead and/or participate in special projects and presentations.
- Stays up to date in functional area of expertise on industry trends and developments and assures knowledge transfer within the organization.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of core functions of an insurance company general insurance actuarial and statistical concepts.
- Advanced technical expertise and product specific knowledge. Candidate should have experience in the capacity to use Excel at a proficient level. Experience in a programming language such as SQL R or VBA is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNAs internal and external business partners.
- Strong analytical critical thinking and problemsolving skills with the ability to effectively resolve complex situations and issues.
- Solid project management organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and lead teams.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews.
- Ability to solve issues with a sense of urgency; utilizes and manages the available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior results.
- Ability to creatively and effectively manage through ambiguous and challenging problems leads through change and takes appropriate levels of risk.
- Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other businessrelated software systems including processing systems and applications.
- Rate filing experience including California filing experience is preferred.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of seven years of related work experience.
- Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

In Illinois/New York/California the average base pay range for a Senior Actuarial Consultant is $130500 to $185000. Salary determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location.
In certain jurisdictions CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia California Colorado Connecticut Illinois Maryland Massachusetts New York and Washington the national base pay range for this job level is $72000 to $141000 determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location.
