Summary of Role:
The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing trade compliance processes ensuring adherence to domestic and international import/export regulations and leading compliance initiatives. This role involves managing special trade programs optimizing systems and vendor partnerships and leading a team of specialists to maintain seamless global operations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Compliance Leadership
- Administer and enhance the Trade Compliance corporate policies to align with evolving global trade regulations.
- Lead the Trade Compliance Specialist team providing training development and crossfunctional support.
Import/Export Operations & Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee import/export activities documentation and system updates to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain compliance with MMNAs participation in CTPAT Trade Compliance and other special trade programs (Drawback GSP USMCA etc.).
- Monitor Importer Security Filings (ISF 102) to ensure timely filing with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as needed.
System Optimization & Process Improvement
- Identify and resolve issues in MMNAs trade compliance system ensuring seamless data transmission to business partners.
- Spearhead vendor software transitions collaborating with IT and key stakeholders for system integration.
- Develop and maintain trade compliance databases to ensure compliance with all recordkeeping requirements.
Product Classification & Risk Management
- Ensure correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Export Commodity Classification Numbers (ECCN) and Schedule B classifications for imported/exported automotive products and components.
- Conduct trade compliance and risk assessment audits aligned with minimum security criteria (MSC) collaborating with Internal Audit team.
Stakeholder & Government Relations
- Monitor and coordinate MMNAs service providers including Customs Brokers Freight Forwarders and Logistics Providers ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Provide instructions to business partners on shipment documentation operating procedures CBP bond requirements and other ad hoc matters.
- Serve as a liaison with CBP Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Census Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other regulatory agencies.
- Support MMNAs CTPAT membership revalidation coordinating compliance audits addressing findings and remediation and assessing training requirements and implementation.
Financial Oversight & Internal Auditing
- Develop and manage the departments operational budget while optimizing trade compliance resources.
- Prepare financial reports related to value reconciliation adjustments prior disclosures and TP duty accruals and timely processing of these entries.
- Ensure timely processing of CBP invoices and service provider billings within designated timelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in International Business Supply Chain Management or Automotive Logistics.
- Extensive experience in trade compliance operations system applications customs regulations and export controls.
- Strong leadership in team supervision training and crossfunctional collaboration.
- Expertise in automotive component classifications import/export compliance and risk management.
- Ability to manage trade systems transitions vendor partnerships and regulatory documentation.
- Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills to mitigate compliance risks.
Pay Transparency:
The base salary for this position ranges between $100000 to $110000. The base salary will be based on a number of factors including the role offered the individuals jobrelated knowledge skills and qualifications.
