Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Engineer for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Grand Rapids Michigan office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects.  The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment.

This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

Tasks will include:

  • Conducting environmental field work including collecting soil groundwater and remediation system data groundwater sampling fluid level gauging and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation inspections and compliance.
  • Field document preparation field data collection processing and interpretation.
  • Supporting office tasks including data analysis and report preparation.
  • Interpret and record data conduct analyses compare findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices. 
  • As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HAZWOPER 40Hour Training.
  • Prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling soil logging well installation and soil groundwater vapor sample collection and/or remediation system operations maintenance and monitoring.
  • Masters Degree is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint Excel).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Coursework or experience providing knowledge relevant to waste management environmental site assessments environmental site investigation and characterization and environmental remediation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling practices.


Additional Information :

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
  • 50% field work is required.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes office work in Grand Rapids Michigan. The selected candidate must be available to work in Grand Rapids Michigan on a scheduled basis.
