You will join a dedicated team of policy professionals who are focused on shaping creative and evidencebased policy solutions that benefit consumers markets and competition. We work collaboratively including with stakeholders across the FCA and externally to solve problems and deliver market integrity.
We are committed to sharing our knowledge and encouraging new ideas. Our team is responsible for making policy which aims to prevent harm to consumers and markets from the use of benchmarks and credit ratings.
What will you be doing
Providing expert advice creativity and critical judgement to help shape support and challenge the development of the teams policy solutions on future regulation
Working closely with Supervision colleagues on shaping and challenging the outcomes of thematic workstreams relevant to future regulation
Engaging and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver the best outcome for wholesale markets
Sharing knowledge and experience through partnering education and consulting based on the subject matter whilst mentoring and coaching staff on technical issues relating to policy development and regulation
Providing thought leadership in the capital markets sphere

This role is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of policy in the FCA in an evolving area. As part of this role you will have the opportunity to:
Get significant exposure to UK capital markets working closely with a wide array of stakeholders including market participants trade bodies and other regulatory and government bodies
Play an important role in shaping wholesale markets in the UK at a time of significant change
Gain exposure to FCA Senior Management with periodic discussions at both the executive regulation and policy committee and the FCA Board
Develop a deep understanding of the benchmarks and credit ratings portfolios and how they function
Contribute and support wider crosscutting strategic issues such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Environmental Social & Governance (ESG)

Minimum
Prior experience of policy development including engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and decision makers and implementation of complex deliveries
Prior experience and understanding of wholesale financial market regulation and the application of our rules in practice (must have an understanding of the FCA Handbook and associated law)
Prior experience and understanding of benchmarks and/or credit ratings and applicable regulations
Essential
Ability to build strong network across the organisation and have confidence in working at all levels across the FCA to deliver and provide advice and challenge on a range of matters
Credible persuasive communicator able to communicate views positively and effectively to all levels of staff and stakeholders inside and outside the organisation
Sound judgement including being prepared to make reasoned decisions in circumstances of limited or inconclusive information
Strong team player who shares knowledge provides training and inspires others to develop skills and capabilities
Excellent delivery capability with ability to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams to tight deadlines
Strong written and oral communication skills
