Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bexley to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.16 24.71 per Hour

Summary:

The council is seeking enthusiastic and capable professionals to join its Regulatory Services team delivering environmental health functions across Environmental Protection Housing and Commercial sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve complex environmental health complaints including site inspections and enforcement actions.
  • Serve legal notices and prepare prosecution files where necessary; represent the Council in court tribunals and public inquiries.
  • Lead or support cases in specialist areas of Environmental Health and advise junior officers.
  • Provide expert guidance to the public businesses agencies and internal departments.
  • Manage casework independently with minimal supervision and liaise with partners including housing providers and regulatory bodies.
  • Carry out inspections of premises respond to service requests and ensure compliance with legal and council standards.
  • Maintain technical equipment and operate within statutory requirements and internal policy frameworks.

Qualification:

  • Recognised degree in Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB)

Essentials:

  • Demonstrated experience handling complex Environmental Health cases and working within statutory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in ICT systems such as Word Excel and case management tools.
  • Ability to manage a personal caseload serve legal notices and prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel within the Borough.
