Job Description

The City of Mission is seeking an innovative and forwardthinking individual for the role of Manager of LongRange Planning. This essential position plays a critical part in the Development Services department ensuring strategic oversight and effective management of the citys longrange planning activities including policy development and the completion of special projects. You will report directly to the Director of Development Services.

As the Manager of LongRange Planning you will oversee the updates and revisions to essential documents such as the Official Community Plan Neighbourhood Plans and Zoning Bylaw and act as a Project Manager for significant planning initiatives. Youll also serve as the staff liaison to various committees like the Sustainable Housing Committee to help develop and implement innovative housing strategies. You will also be responsible for making recommendations to Council regarding housing affordability implementation of the Affordable Housing Strategy and other strategies relating to the spectrum of housing needs in the City. Collaboration is key as you will work closely with city departments on projects affecting community growth and development.

Responsibilities will also include conducting thorough research and preparing reports managing grant applications for growth initiatives and guiding external consultants on grantfunded projects. You will initiate and direct longrange planning projects focusing on developing strategies through robust stakeholder engagement which includes interactions with council members and community groups.


Qualifications :

The ideal candidate will be proficient in longrange strategic planning with a deep understanding of Regional Planning guidance and relevant Provincial and Federal regulations and legislation particularly legislation concerning housing affordability. Strong analytical problemsolving and communication skills are essential alongside project management experience to coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively. Candidates should have five to ten years of senior planning experience a relevant degree in planning or a related field and membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners as a Registered Professional Planner. A valid Class 5 Drivers License is also required.


Additional Information :

Compensation for this excluded position includes a fourstep wage range from $140508 to $156120 commensurate with qualifications and experience. It also features a comprehensive benefits package participation in the municipal pension plan a 9day fortnight work schedule and the opportunity to collaborate with an outstanding team.
