Northern Green Canada is searching for a new team member to join us in the role of Commercial Finance Analyst.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Commercial Finance Analyst role at Northern Green Canada (NGC) is a dynamic and integral position within the Finance team.
NGC is an EUGMPcertified medical cannabis facility and international export operation with its key strategic activities being supply of highquality medical cannabis products to Curaleafs leading European businesses and to wholesale partners in other international markets (including Australia and New Zealand). Organisationally NGC is part of the rapidly growing Curaleaf International which we believe is the largest cannabis business in Europe by scale and footprint.
As Commercial Finance Analyst you will play a key role in the growth of the company producing robust forecasts and insightful management information in collaboration with colleagues across the business and internationally. You will also act as a business partner providing analysis behind growth and profitability initiatives.
This position requires strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment. The position will report to the VP Commercial Finance working alongside the NGC Finance team from the Toronto office as well as the broader Curaleaf International Finance team in Europe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with crossfunctional colleagues to develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts
- Assistance in preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial reports and presentations for senior management including key performance indicators and financial metrics
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights into key drivers of financial performance including endtoend value chain analysis gross margin analysis strategic pricing reviews and procurement optimisation
- Develop and maintain accurate costing models associated with cultivation and GMP postproduction processes as well as supporting profitability analysis
- Collaborate with supply chain and operations to produce and maintain accurate inventory information and valuation
- Evaluate and monitor CAPEX projects providing regular updates and variance analysis to stakeholders
- Preparation of business cases and investment appraisals behind growth and operational efficiency initiatives
- Support the commercial team to evaluate new business opportunities
- Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to implement and upgrade financial software tools
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or related field
- Pursuing a relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA ACA ACCA CIMA)
- 23 years of experience in management accounting financial reporting or FP&A
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and variance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to work independently prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic fastpaced environment
- Strives to drive improvements and to participate proactively within the organisation
Desired experience:
Ideally the candidate would have worked in FMCG Cannabis Pharmaceuticals or Life Sciences
- ERP & financial planning systems (e.g. Business Central F&O Vena)
- Experience within an international setting working with and managing finance and nonfinance stakeholders
