The Position
This specialized teaching position is unique to EBUS Academy and School District 91. The ideal candidate must hold a recognized postdegree diploma or degree in Special Education and have demonstrated experience working with students with autism.
Although EBUS is an online learning school we partner with Insight Education an independent learning center that supports families with unique needs. In this role the EBUS teacher will serve as the lead case manager for students and families collaborating closely with Insight staff to plan and support learning. This position requires strong teamwork and flexibility in a highly collaborative learning environment that emphasizes family engagement.
Qualifications (Online Education Focus)
- Bachelor of Education.
- A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in The Ministry of Education and Childcare.
- Completion of a professional diploma or university degree program in Special Education.
- Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.
- Training in functional behaviour assessment and behavioural intervention strategies.
- Training or experience in the Response to Intervention model of supporting students who require assistance with their learning.
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Experience in IEP / IBI case management and working with intensive behaviour students.
- Expertise in the use of educational technologies for teaching and learning especially course management software and both synchronous and asynchronous online delivery software.
- Able to cope with ragged entry and exit for students by providing flexible learning opportunities in the online courses delivered.
- A high degree of technological literacy demonstrates an interest in technology integration.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using online communication platforms (audio video email phone chat) with parents students and staff.
- Worksite Insight Education Kamloops.
- Work in partnership with Insight Education to develop plan and manage educational programming for learners with Autism.
