About the role
Caring for a loved one is important work. Some days caring brings great joy but some days it can be lonely or a little overwhelming. No matter how you feel today our Carers Gateway will be just a phone call away. Carers Gateway is a new initiative to provide carers with information support counselling and coaching.
As a Senior Counsellor you will support the team to provide high quality counselling to carers accessing support through the Carers Gateway Program. This position will use strengthbased frameworks to provide support and supervision to the team and offer therapeutic services such as counselling therapeutic group work information and research services to support people impacted by their role as a carer to improve their quality of life.

Skills and Experience
A minimum of a current Australian Counselling Association accreditation Level3 or a Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia Clinical Member
3 years experience providing counselling services and group work
Post graduate qualifications in counselling would support success
Accredited in clinical supervision or eligibility to undertake training to gain accreditation with prior experience in mentoring and supervising other Counsellors.
Ability to complete file audits and provide feedback to maintain compliance standards contribute to program development and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience facilitating programs for individuals and groups
Knowledge of wrap around and referral services available
Excellent understanding of carers issues in the domains of work health and feelings and how these impact on quality of life.
Ability to quickly and effectively evaluate the needs of a client who may be in crisis and identify potential referrals that may meet their needs
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to apply counselling theories skills and knowledge to clients experiencing issues relating to area of specialty
