Job Description:
The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris isseeking aManager Quality & Mission Assurance to work at our Orange VA location. Our site nearCulpeper VA in beautiful rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as highcomplexity production programs.
Essential Functions:
- 60% Manage the daytoday activities of the Quality Engineering group. This may include but not limited to activities such as:
Providing technical direction to employees assigning Quality Engineers to support programs interface with other Aerojet Rocketdyne departments establish work priorities and assign personnel to meet those requirements.
Maintain departments fiscal expectations utilization and commitments by working closely with internal customers and participating in meetings where decisions and planning / program support work scheduling occurs. Accountable for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
20% Lead and support Quality Engineers as required. Ensure current quality flowdown requirements are provided to Suppliers internal manufacturing Quality Engineers and other functional organizations through the interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications customer quality requirements and company quality requirements. Accountable for problem resolutions including the initiation and closure of root cause and corrective/preventative action. Support proposal activities as requested.
20% Support deploy lead the Quality Engineering organization using the E3 (Business Operating System) tools as the foundational structure. Lead / participate in continuous improvement projects and innovative initiatives that drive improvement in key processes as measured through performance metrics. Respond to negative trends in performance data through the use of continuous improvement tools. Drive the use of process variation reduction activities.
Requires up to 10% business travel to to other L3Harris and supplier sites.
Ability to obtain a US SecretSecurity Clearance.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and minimum 9years of prior Quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 13years of prior related quality experience.
3 years experience utilizing common quality standards (AS9100 or ISO9001) and typical aerospace processes (machining welding fabrication material forming product assembly Foreign Object prevention MRB Quality Requirements Engineering (QRE) etc.).
3years experience in the leadership of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean 6S root cause analysis process mapping).
Preferred Additional Skills:
Advanced degree in Business or Engineering.
Experience developing new products in a multifunctional team environment.
Strong writing and verbal skills and an ability to mentor and increase the effectiveness and productivity of employees.
Experience partnering with other business organizations including Finance Engineering Program Management and Operations.
Experience supportingproposals with functional requirements manpower requirements and risk assessments: Manage quality program and overhead budgets within 5% of latest approved budget EAC or ETC.
Experience in functional management with proven leadership in Quality Assurance or related discipline.
