General Information:
The College of Business (CoB) Advising and Support Center (ASC) seeks a parttime academic advisor. The successful candidate will be part of a professional and student team supporting student success by providing academic advice to 4500 business majors. The ASC encourages student growth by providing quality advice and programming designed to empower students in making informed decisions leading to the achievement of academic and professional goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Use professional judgement to advise students on degree requirements and college progression standards; Communicate regularly with constituents; Assist students in developing academic plans; Coach students on academic success strategies; Monitor students progression; Participate in staff development activities; Maintain records and confidentiality; Serve as an accessible and knowledgeable resource to students.
Qualifications:
Excellent oral written and listening communication skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint).
Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting as well as work independently.
Ability to learn quickly adapt to a fastchanging environment and manage multiple priorities at once.
Experience working with college students is beneficial especially advising experience but not required.
Conditions of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a parttime wage position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of an academic year with no benefits.
