Spur Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PreK Special Education Aide to join our team to work in Huntsville City Schools at Weatherly Elementary School and Lakewood Elementary School. As a PreK Special Education Aide you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to students with special needs helping them access their education and achieve their individual goals. Responsibilities:
- Assist prek special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs.
- Provide oneonone or smallgroup support to students during classroom activities ensuring their understanding and engagement.
- Assist students with daily tasks such as personal hygiene mobility and communication as required.
- Support students in developing and strengthening their academic social and emotional skills through guided practice and reinforcement.
- Implement behavior management strategies and support students in following classroom rules and routines.
- Collaborate with teachers therapists and other support staff to facilitate the integration of students with special needs into the general education environment.
- Assist with the preparation and modification of instructional materials including visual aids worksheets and assistive technology tools.
- Monitor student progress and collect data on their performance behavior and achievements as directed by the teacher.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment promoting acceptance understanding and respect among all students.
- Provide assistance during transitions between activities and locations ensuring student safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding student privacy.
Requirements:
- ALSDE Background Check (Immedicate Hire if candidate has CLEAR background check in place)
- Jason Flatt Certification: Law Certifications: of the following: An associates degree or higher or 48 credit hours or a passing score on the workkeys test.
- Previous experience working with individuals with special needs preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
- Basic understanding of different disabilities and their potential impact on learning and development.
- Patience empathy and the ability to establish a rapport with students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students teachers and parents/guardians.
- Ability to follow directions multitask and maintain composure in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and demands of students.
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Compensation
- Pay $15.00 p/hr
- Job Hours: 7:30am 3:30pm (Vary Between Elementary/Middle/High School)
