Job Description

The Primary Responsibility of a classroom teacher is to create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
Term of Employment: based annually on the approved school calendar
Responsible to: Building Administrator
Qualifications: Current valid Missouri Certification
The Secondary Teacher Performance Responsibilities include:
- TeachingFCS courses and electives usingappropriate learning activities to pupils in a classroom using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Advises cocurricular FCCLA chapter in accordance with bylaws.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans instructional materials and provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the individual student.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the pupils progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies the pupils needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems.
- Creates an environment for learning.
- Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and selfselected growth activities
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids. Maintains required inventory records.
- Supervises students in outofclassroom activities as assigned.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the districts testing program.
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participates in faculty meetings committees and sponsorship of student activities.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Complies with good safety practices.
- Complies with all district rules regulations and policies.
Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.
