Job Description

Salary range: $31096 $39416 (dependent upon prior relevant work experience)

Per Board Policy candidates can bring up to 10 years of relevant work experience toward their starting salary.

CLASSIFICATION: Classified nonexempt FLSA status

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to be a positive and contributing member of a district level team
  2. Ability to manage diverse constituency groups including but not limited to: district personnel retirees insurance vendors etc.
  3. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  4. Knowledge and experience in health insurance/benefits and/or willingness to learn

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a high school diploma and experience working in schools with benefits knowledge preferred

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

JOB GOALS: Serve as the district Benefits Specialist for the Union RXI School District

PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Educate and enroll employees and retirees in benefits programs
  2. Coordinate and communicate benefits/open enrollment
  3. Maintain employee insurance files
  4. Process and maintain reporting for ACA requirements
  5. Manage COBRA participants
  6. Manage and reconcile employee benefit related deductions and vendor billings
  7. Process and maintain employee leave (including FMLA) yearend leave and payout information
  8. Manage and maintain employee leave information affecting payroll
  9. Manage all Family and Medical Leave Act related claims
  10. Manage workers compensation claims.
  11. Report student injuries to insurance company and act as liaison
  12. Report liability claims to insurance company and act as liaison
  13. Manage Flex Plan and 403B retirement plan information
  14. Manage and process substitute teachers job assignments for payroll
  15. Process and maintain certified employee contracts
  16. Create and maintain teacher tenure list
  17. Manage and process teacher salary advancements
  18. Assist with human resource related matters
  19. Adhere to all district rules regulations and policies
  20. Maintain confidentiality on all school related matters
  21. Perform other office duties as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 days per year (12 month position) 8 hours per day

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary set by the Board of Education Board paid health insurance Leave per Board policy

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Boards policy and evaluation.

PHYSICAL MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. Additionally the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and wellbeing of others. Lastly this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
