The Vehicle Integration Engineer is responsible for developing and validating vehicle performance based on customer expectations and technical targets. The role leads functional performance within a specific domainsuch as Body Interior or Electricalon a given vehicle program. The VIE defines functional objectives creates and executes validation plans (DVP&R) and ensures integration of new features in alignment with program goals. The role involves handson testing issue resolution and crossfunctional coordination throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and manage Vehicle Functional Objectives and Validation Plans (DVP&R) for a specific functional area.
Lead development and execution of performance targets within a vehicle program (Body Interior or Electrical).
Support integration of new features and alignment across programs through participation in technical forums.
Lead crossfunctional issue resolution identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
Support and participate in ride & drive events overnight evaluations validation trips and pilot builds.
Conduct handson vehicle testing inspections and diagnostic activities.
Benchmark internal and competitive vehicle performance.
Collaborate with shop teams to manage vehicle updates and configurations.
Track and report vehicle performance using internal scorecard systems and documentation.
Present program status and key updates to senior leadership during scheduled escalation reviews.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
12 years of experience in automotive product development vehicle testing or systems engineering.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with automotive systems components and integration.
Understanding of vehicle development and validation processes.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
Basic knowledge of issue resolution methodologies (root cause analysis corrective action).
Ability to interpret and manage vehiclelevel performance data.
Soft Skills:
Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical issues into actionable recommendations.
Strong collaboration and teambuilding skills across engineering disciplines.
Selfstarter with strong time management multitasking and prioritization skills.
Comfortable working in both technical and handson environments.
Valid drivers license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Engineering.
Knowledge of autonomous driving and electrified propulsion systems.
Experience with component release and engineering documentation.
Formal training in issue resolution (containment corrective action planning).
DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Exposure to manufacturing assembly and quality processes.
Strong systems engineering mindset and understanding of fullvehicle performance.
