At least 4 years of handson experience in the installation troubleshooting and servicing of a wide range of marine navigation and communication systems including but not limited to MARINE RADAR systems chartplotters ECDIS AIS VDR VHF radios MF/HF SSB autopilots and maritime IT equipment. Additionally knowledge in IT/networking and VSAT systems is essential for this role. A General Operators Certificate (GOC) is recommended. The candidate should also possess a general understanding of marine electrical and electronics systems. Flexibility and a willingness to travel are required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install troubleshoot and service various marine navigation and communication systems including MARINE RADAR systems chartplotters ECDIS AIS VDR VHF radios MF/HF SSB autopilots maritime IT equipment and VSAT systems.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks and inspections on installed systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure the continuous operation of onboard systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to onboard crew members regarding the operation and maintenance of navigation and communication systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate installations upgrades and repairs as needed.
- Keep abreast of industry developments regulations and technological advancements in marine navigation and communication systems.
- Document all service activities including installation procedures troubleshooting steps and solutions provided accurately and comprehensively.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Telecommunications or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of handson experience in the installation troubleshooting and servicing of marine navigation and communication systems.
- Proficiency in the installation configuration and maintenance of MARINE RADAR systems chartplotters ECDIS AIS VDR VHF radios MF/HF SSB autopilots maritime IT equipment and VSAT systems.
- Strong knowledge of IT/networking principles and protocols.
- General Operators Certificate (GOC) is recommended.
