BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Organisation context:
The WFP Technology Division (TEC) is the nervous system of WFP connecting staff with each other and with our beneficiaries donors and partners. Running all vital IT systems TEC serves as the main driver for continuity of operations efficiency gains and innovations that empower staff globally to effectively implement the Strategic Plan. Within TEC the Business Relationship Management (BRM) team plays a key role in the digital transformation of WFP by partnering with all parts of the organization in order to identify gaps set priorities improve user experience and scale up digital approaches that enhance business efficiency and operational impact.
Within this context the Project and Business Engagement Manager will lead Project Management and execution while ensuring coherence and smooth transfer or ownership between the initial part of partners engagement (BEM) and project execution (Project Management Office)
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Manager
Lead the Project Manager team providing coaching and guidance as required to ensure appropriate execution and enable high performance.
Lead the definition of Project Management processes in alignment with established governance and corporate systems.
Assess the user experience throughout projects implementation and collaborate with TEC branches to achieve successful transition from projects to products.
Identify and escalate issues which could affect projects outcomes timeline and roadmap or budget.
Manage budget and resources assigned to projects.
Manage relationships with internal staff and suppliers to ensure effective and efficient technology products and services are delivered.
Business Engagement Manager
Build functional networks and collaborate with counterparts within and outside of WFP to ensure appropriate medium to longterm planning and resource management in the provision of TEC services.
Identify research and analyse technology gap within Partners divisions and coordinate the cooperation between the Divisional Focal Points and TEC.
Engage with the HOU to understand business objectives gather requirements and analyse capabilities with the objective of shaping demand for technology products.
Keep abreast of both Technology standards and WFPs strategic direction to identify new initiatives provide guidance on Technology options and adopt best practices to support Partners divisions.
Liaise with other units and divisions on areas of collaboration in support of interdivisional initiatives and projects serving the organization as a whole.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Masters degree or equivalent in political science economics statistics information management or First University degree with additional years of related work experience.
Experience:
Eight years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work with a background and interest in international humanitarian development
Knowledge & Skills:
Sound theoretical understanding of Project Management concepts with a broad knowledge of best practices techniques and processes.
Demonstrated application and synthesis of acquired knowledge including application in the partner engagement and project management contexts. Excellent oral and written communication skills able to clearly articulate insights to senior stakeholders in and outside of WFP.
Ability to lead motivate and develop teams.
Knowledge of common business principals and processes and the ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems.
Advanced exposure with Microsoft products Survey Monkey Atlassian Jira
Languages:
Fluency in English (both oral and written) French and/or Spanish and/or Arabic desired (both oral and written)
