The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the worlds largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP and its partners believe that no child should go to bed hungry and that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children women and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy dignified lives. Each year WFP assists 90 million people in 83 countries. Every day some 5600 WFPchartered trucks are on the road 92 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. These numbers speak to WFPs unparalleled reputation as an emergency responder one that is often the first on the scene in the most difficult environments. WFP also works with partners to strengthen the resilience of communities most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition through longterm development programmes aimed at boosting food security local economies education employment and gender equality. While hunger and malnutrition are the worlds largest solvable issues the needs are still immense and growing. 821 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger.
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for working with the private sector to achieve greater impact in WFPs work. PSP has embarked on an exceptionally ambitious new strategy to raise an additional one billion dollars for hungry or malnourished people in the next five years and to expand the contribution to WFP from the business sector through effective and sustainable longterm partnerships as well as from private individual supporters around the world. This includes securing new high impact technical partnerships signing significant new corporate deals and growing existing relationships as well as building a base of one million individual supporters.
The Partnerships Associate part of the Partnership Management team based at WFP HQ in Rome will be responsible for supporting the management of a portfolio of existing corporate relationships and provide additional project support to help the team deliver excellence in relationship management and growth in partnership income.
Support the management of the Mastercard partnership and as defined manage a portfolio of private sector partnerships and activities developing and implementing annual workplans under the supervision of a senior manager.
Support partnership growth by exploring opportunities to expand existing partnerships and scope of new partners guided by assessments analysis and due diligence; Present recommendations to leadership and ensure follow up.
Prepare partnership proposals strategic agreements joint strategies and/or MOUs under the supervision of a senior manager considering corporate norms processes and external regulations; Ensure quality control of content by engaging with relevant functional units RBs and COs.
Prepare quality briefing materials; proactively highlight strategic opportunities and issues to management and propose options for the best course of action to nurture trust and interest in the work of WFP.
Act as defined focal point roles with WFP internal departments functional areas and Global Offices.
Gather and share partner intelligence (including forecasting) using key information systems (e.g. WINGS Salesforce WFPGo) and assess results.
Support functional units RBs and COs to develop compelling partnership propositions for the private sector where relevant. Prepare and followup on key events and meetings including drafting and disseminating Notes for the Record; develop presentations proposals reports briefing memos and other communications in coordination with PSP colleagues as well as WFP technical units and field operations. Proactively support a wide range of aspects of a partnerships portfolio including partner profiling data/trends analysis and outreach plan to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFPs work. Other responsibilities as required including administrative support to the wider income team.
