Were looking for 2 permanent and 1 fixed term/secondment (12 months) Programme Manager to join our Programme Assurance team. Youll work with colleagues to discuss the health of a programme by understanding key metrics. How much investment is available How much investment is currently live and how much investment is committed. Have you considered the risks to the programme What outcomes will the programme deliver
Youll also work with colleagues in project delivery where we apply Scottish Waters investment governance framework.
What youll do
As our Programme Manager you will have a key ownership role in regularly reviewing the health of specific programmes. This process is based on industry best practice Managing Successful Programmes. Using information and evidence gathered from regular engagement with stakeholders across Scottish Water and data from our reporting you will provide programme intelligence and insights to senior stakeholders to help make the decisions needed to ensure effective efficient and resilient delivery of your programmes.
Youll need to be able to lead the recovery of amber status programmes when things dont go to plan agreeing the way forward while understanding the impact on investment milestones risk and outcomes. Like our current Programme Managers youll be a great communicator and problem solver.
Youll have a key role in applying Scottish Waters investment governance framework. Youll working with project teams closely to ensure that project governance deliverables are provided and that the investment requests made for a project are accurate.
The Programme Assurance team have a strong focus on doing our job improving our job. We want you to come in with fresh eyes and with feedback from our stakeholders across the business to help continually build on the services we provide to our customers.We have a continual improvement process our Business Plan which holds our Programme Assurance improvement and change activities. You will be involved in these and could lead on them too.
Youll be responsible for 56 programmes working as an individual. Teamwork includes sharing technical knowledge and support fellow Programme Managers. Teamwork is also conducted when undertaking Business Plan activities.
What youll bring
Your programme management skills will include investment management programme delivery identifying and assessing programme risks and understanding programme outcomes.
You have an analytical mindset and an ability to apply it to problem solving.You also have an eye for detail. Theres a real reputational risk if we dont get things right and our stakeholders wont hesitate to challenge us.
You will also have excellent communication skills: visually verbally and in writing. Programme Managers can be expected to present at and/or lead reviews in various forums to a wide variety of stakeholders. Also youll have a track record of managing stakeholders effectively. We engage with a variety of stakeholders from across the business and at all levels.
You have good time management and prioritisation skills the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
You can talk about risk management and you know how its applied within project management as a minimum.
And now for the technical stuff. You can harness your communications skills through adept use of PowerPoint. Knowing Excel and Power BI would be an advantage in conjunction with your analytical mindset.
You also have experience of Oracle P3M Unifier (Scottish Waters project management tool). If you are familiar with this thats great. If you are not you will be fully supported to learn it via peer to peer line leader and guidance materials.
If you have qualifications such as MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) MoP (Management of Portfolios) or an APM (Association of Project Management) qualification let us know and tell us how you have applied these learnt skills. If youve not been on these courses well add them to your development plan.

The notsosmall print
This role will be a Grade 7. If youre new to Scottish Water youll join us on a starting salary of 41000. Performancedriven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of 51970.
