POSITION SUMMARY:
Join Alexander Dennis as a Field Service Engineer in Harrogate and help us shape the future of ecofriendly transport! Youll be responsible for keeping our cuttingedge buses on the road diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues performing both reactive and preventative maintenance and ensuring all paperwork is completed efficiently. Were seeking someone with experience in buses or heavy vehicles skilled in electrical diagnostics and mechanical repairs and ready to take on a flexible handson role. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- First and foremost youll be responsible for ensuring maximum vehicle availability for our customer in Harrogate.
- On arrival at our customers site youll work quickly and diligently to diagnose problems completing repairs in a health and safety conscious manner.
- This will be a combination of reactive and preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on the whole vehicle.
- Once youve finished working on the vehicles youll need to complete paperwork (such as service worksheets timesheets and warranty claims) ensuring that jobs can be closed and invoiced in a timely manner. This includes uploading information to systems and occasionally writing technical reports.
- Youll be given a van and its your responsibility to make sure that it is fully equipped with tools and parts on daily basis.
- Its a 40hour week with hours of operation typically between 05:0020:00. Your exact hours will be communicated to you by your line manager on a regular basis.
- Youll get to work on and learn about various vehicle drivelines including battery electric hydrogen fuel cell diesel and diesel hybrid.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of buses or heavy goods vehicles including body electrical and mechanical or a complete PSV or HGV apprenticeship.
- Working on modern hightech vehicles it would be great if you have electrical diagnostic skills ideally using Multiplex systems.
- Mechanically youll be comfortable with diagnosing and repairing of engines and transmission issues as well as compressed air systems as a minimum.
- Time served PCV/LGV Technician with a recognised qualification such as City and Guilds BTEC or similar or equivalent experience.
- Required to be dependable punctual and reliable with a customer focused mindset focusing on quality and accuracy with completion at the highest of standards.
- Excellent selforganising and planning skills are key and a professional manner at all times.
- A degree of flexibility is required and where additional hours are worked overtime payment will be applied.
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft packages.
- A Full UK Driving License
