Supported Exempt Housing Officer
Fixed Term Contract/ Secondment 6 months with possible extension to 12 months

Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week
Since 2020 Birmingham City Council been raising standards within the supported exempt housing sector. Through grant funding and a unique multidisciplinary partnership approach we effectively respond to complex neighbourhood concerns improving property conditions tackling antisocial behaviour assessing support standards and addressing planning breaches. To date we have saved 8.4m in what would have been overpaid enhanced housing benefit.
With furtherSupported Housing Improvement Programme (SHIP) funding secured through to March 2026 we are now recruiting for a number ofexciting secondment opportunities
About the Role:
Were looking for passionate motivated professionals with experience in inspectinghouses in multiple occupation witha strong understanding of housing standards. Experience with theHousing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)is a distinct advantage however if youre a fast learner with the drive to develop new skills wed love to hear from you.
This is adynamic peoplefocused rolethat involves working closely with landlords support providers and other professionals to drive up housing standards and improve service provision for vulnerable adults. Youll need a good understanding of the support worker role and strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence change effectively.
