The Role
As the Quality Engineer responsible for the Steel Manufacturing Factory you will lead quality assurance activities across all steel frame manufacturing operations. You will ensure the delivery of high quality components by developing and maintaining quality systems supporting new product introduction and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and RFT performance. This role requires a practical data driven approach with a strong understanding of dimensional control process validation and compliance with ISO 9001. You will also be responsible for leading and managing one Quality Technician to support daily inspection tasks and frontline quality engagement on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Manufacturing Processes
Lead quality control activities across machining forming brazing and assembly operations.
Create own and maintain Control Plans Quality Standards and Quality Inspection Plans for all steel components.
Collaborate with Engineering on PFMEAs DFMEAs and product validation requirements.
Support process capability studies and implement statistical process control (SPC)
Drive investigations into nonconformances using structured problemsolving (5Why Ishikawa 8D).
Conduct internal audits and support external/supplier audits to ISO 9001 standards.
Monitor and report key Quality KPIs including scrap rates RFT% and defect trends.
Implement and maintain visual standards gauging instructions and standardised work documents.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Liaise with crossfunctional teams across Production Engineering and Supply Chain.
Leading developing and managing a Quality Technician
Quality Engineering projects
Identify areas of inefficiency or poor quality to help with the prioritisation of work.
Be responsible for collecting data timings operator feedback where necessary.
Undertake 5S projects and be responsible for clean working environments and machinery.
Skills and Requirements
Engineeringbased experience and knowledge.
Proficient with interpreting technical drawings (GD&T) and technical assembly procedures
Proficient with manual measurement techniques CMM experience would be an advantage but is not required
A handson practical approach Appreciation of the importance in standardisation and process control.
Selfmotivation and a constant desire to improve the status quo.
