The fulltime starting salary is normally 35232.00 per annum with progression available in post to 38297.00 per annum (PRO RATA)

Birmingham City University is offering an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral candidate to join theThats Me! Projectteam as a fulltime Research Assistant. This role is ideal for someone passionate about research impact knowledge exchange and inclusive engagement.

About Thats Me!

Thats Me! Eliminating Barriers to Postgraduate Research Study in the West Midlandsis a collaborative project between Birmingham City University and University of Wolverhampton. It is one of 13 projects funded by the Office for Students and Research England as part of a nationwide programme to widen participation in postgraduate research. The Project aims to explore and address inequalities within the postgraduate research experience with a specific focus on the experiences of people who identify as being from a Global Majority heritage background including but not limited to individuals who are Black Asian Brown dualheritage indigenous to the global south and or have been racialised as ethnic minorities (CampbellStevens 2020).

The Role

The Research Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of the projects final phase including delivery of a range of outputs and targets and in ensuring its longterm sustainability. They will work closely with project leadership and wider project team with a particular focus on leading engagement with regional employers. This includes managing the projects Employer Board identifying collaboration opportunities leading on event delivery and contributing to the projects legacy through strategic relationshipbuilding and impactful dissemination.

The Research Assistant will gain significant professional experience in research project management interdisciplinary and crossinstitutional project delivery and professional development support including time to develop their own research.

The Research Assistants key responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordinating the projects employer engagement activity by engaging with regional employers and provide administrative support for the projects Employer Board.
  2. Supporting the delivery of a programme of project events.
  3. Contributing to the production of collaborative research reports and publications and open access materials.
  4. Supporting the presentation of project findings at BCU and externally.
