The European Space Agencys Strategic Foresight & Planning Office supports the denition of the ESAwide strategy and is responsible for:
- Ensuring the availability of futures intelligence by analysing internal and external factors that may impact ESA and the European space sector;
- Developing strategic foresight capabilities tailored to ESAs needs and the specificities of the space sector;
- Designing and delivering strategic foresight projects that assess the implications of multiple possible futures for ESAs strategies programmes and policies helping to identify blind spots emerging threats and opportunities and to enhance resilience at programme and Agency level;
- Supporting the formulation of ESAs strategic plans by identifying key challenges and strategic options and helping to define mid and longterm goals and objectives at both Agency and directorate levels;
- Building and sustaining relevant internal and external foresight networks.
As part of a team providing service to the Strategic Foresight & Planning Office in the Strategy department you will have the following responsibilities:
- Support the development and synthesis of futures intelligence;
- Contribute to the design implementation and delivery of strategic foresight and planning projects;
- Assist in the facilitation and coordination of foresight networks across ESA and with external partners;
Support the consolidation of foresight outputs briefings and reporting material.
Qualifications :
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
- A Masters degree in a relevant discipline;
- Familiarity with strategic foresight methods tools and practices;
- Some acquaintances with the space sector is an asset;
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an asset.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills a high degree of curiosity and the ability to think in systems and across time horizons;
- You should be comfortable working in ambiguity synthesising diverse inputs and translating complex insights into clear actionable outputs;
- A collaborative mindset cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders from across ESA and the broader ecosystem are essential to thrive in this crosscutting and exploratory role;
- Commitment to ethical standards including confidentiality integrity and impartiality in order to maintain objective and productive working relationships is a must.
