CWA subject teacher provide highquality teaching effective use of resources and improved standards of
learning and achievement for all students. Additional pastoral and extracurricular requirements will exist in
addition to their responsibilities as class teachers. Subject teacher is responsible to the School Leadership
Team (HoD & Principals) and are under theirsupervision. Expertise and experience in specific assigned course
curriculum are assumed (i.e. IGCSE).

Planning and setting expectations:
Set expectationsforstudents and the school in relation to standards ofstudent achievement and the
quality of teaching.
Collaborate with all department staff to ensure teaching is set to match with students needs.
Contribute to with the involvement of the relevant staffshort medium and long term plans for the
development and resourcing of the program
Identify realistic and challenging targets forstudent improvement
Clarity regarding actions to be taken timescales and criteria for success
Teaching and managing student learning:
Curriculum coverage continuity and progression in all areas for all students including those of high
ability and those with learning support or proficiency needs
Collaboration and reflection on teaching and learning methods are used to meet the needs of the
department and of all students
Setting and marking students work accurately and promptly giving additional guidance and work
according to their needs.
Ensuring he/she is fully aware of all the School s policies relating to students and act accordingly to
protect and enhance the physical and emotional welfare of the students
Assessment and evaluation:
Analyse and use data to identify program weaknesses for the purpose of strengthening these
weaknesses
Establish and implement clear practices for assessing recording and reporting on students
achievement and for using this information to recognize achievement and to assist students in setting
targets for further improvement
Ensure that information about students achievements in previous classes and schools is used
effectively to secure good progress in their development
Reflect on ones own teaching practices and use this analysis to identify areas for improvement and
take action to improve the quality of teaching
Working with the Middle School Principals and Head of Dept to be responsible forstandardization of
assessment grading and moderation of such within the department
Relations with parents and the wider community:
As the role of homeroom teacher or mentor to communicate effectively orally and in writing with
parents students leaders external agencies and the wider community
Managing own performance and development:
Prioritise and manage own time effectively particularly in relation to balancing the demands made
by teaching and involvement in school development
Take responsibility for his/her own professional development by utilizing professional growth
planning
Managing and developing staff and other adults:
Achieve constructive working relationships with students
Establish clear expectations and constructive working relationships among staff including through
team working and mutual support; devolving responsibilities and delegating tasks appropriate
evaluating practice and developing an acceptance of accountability
In consultation with Principals and when asked help to ensure that new teachers are appropriately
trained monitored supported and assessed in relation to subject area needs and administrative
procedures
When necessary lead subject meetings and relevant professional development
Managing resources:
Establish resource needs and advise Principals and the Head of Dept of likely priorities for
expenditure and allocate available resources with maximum efficiency to meet the objectives of the
school and department planning
Ensure the effective and efficient management and organization of all learning resources
Strategic Partnership:
Contribute to a climate that enables otherstaff to develop & maintain positive attitudes towardsthe
subject and Middle School team & confidence in teaching within it
Others:
Adhering to all other policies and procedures of the School as approved by the Board or the Head
Performing other reasonable duties as instructed by the school including but not limited to lesson
planning preparation and assessment meetings night study supervision students admission
activities students field trips subject fairs and other routine events.
