Position Summary:
DNA to RNA: An Inclusive Canadian Approach to Genomicbased RNA Therapeutics (D2R) is an ambitious $165M sevenyear research program launched in 2023 and led by McGill University and includes other academic partners. This program is funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) the Government of Quebec multiple industry partners and notforprofit organizations and integrates Canadian and international research strengths to support discovery development and delivery of new genomicsbased RNA diagnostics and therapeutics.
Reporting to the Associate Director Business Development and Innovation the incumbent will be responsible for cultivating developing and establishing partnerships between D2R researchers (Faculty members) and industry partners to increase industry sponsored research agreements and technology transfer activity primarily to achieve the goals of D2R.
The incumbent will develop and nurture industry partnerships through targeted outreach external networking and responding to inbound industry requests. They will meet individually and regularly with McGill researchers across different faculties to coherently understand their research expertise and interests in working with industry partners. They will be organizing meetings between McGill researchers and industry partners to catalyze research synergies. The incumbent will also work alongside the Office of Innovation and Partnerships to identify opportunities and develop collaborations and partnerships with industry partners to license Intellectual Property and technologies stemming from D2Rfunded research.
The incumbent must possess knowledge of the academic research environment university policies and practices governing the conduct of research with industry partners and knowledge about various agreements such as sponsored research and nondisclosure agreements contracts and Intellectual Property. The incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills outstanding presentation and communication skills and ability to adapt to a highly dynamic multiteam environment. They will possess demonstrable experience in business development with a technical background in medicine health or biological sciences and eagerness to identify and grow new research and innovation ventures.

This position is funded by CFREF Award entitled DNA to RNA: An Inclusive Canadian Approach to Genomicbased RNA Therapeutics (CFREF) and related funding from the Government of Quebec with a project end date of February 28th 2030 and will only be active for the duration of the research grant.
