Job Description

Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.



Description

Safer Lives Mobile Service (SLMS) is funded to support women and children and or other identified victims of domestic and family violence who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and family violence. Safer Lives Mobile Service triage with women their immediate and longerterm housing needs. The Safer Lives Mobile Team works in partnership with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service and Micah Projects Housing and Homelessness Teams.

As a Specialist Domestic Violence and Housing Advocate you will work as part of the team to provide mobile support to women and children or other victims who are in housing crisis due to domestic and family violence to access safe affordable and appropriate emergency and longterm housing options.

This is a permanent part time 0.8FTE role with conditions and salary at Level 3 of the SCHADS Award. Shifts can be Monday Sunday 4pm 12am & 11:30pm 7:30am Saturday & Sunday 7am 3pm & 8:30am 4:30pm



Skills And Experiences

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support victims of domestic and family violence to access crisis accommodation and longerterm housing options.
  • Respond to referrals from DV Connect Qld Police Service and Qld Health Social Workers.
  • Provide outreach support and safety planning to women and children in motels.
  • Assist women with emergency/crisis motel access 24/7.
  • Provide case management emotional support safety planning and advocacy.
  • Maintain highquality case notes and support plans.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with government and nongovernment services.
  • Ensure services are culturally sensitive and use interpreters when necessary.
  • Work in a crisis environment and respond to multiple demands.
  • Commit to child and vulnerable adult safeguarding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant experience and/or appropriate qualification.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Experience in human services and collaborative teamwork.
  • Ability to work across various shifts.
  • Commitment to child and vulnerable adult safeguarding.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and case management.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work flexibly in a team and autonomously.
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and WHS principles.
