What youll be doing
CIBCs Advanced Threat Detection team is hiring an Information Security Coordinator Coop. As a Coop in this department you will assist with developing and refining cyber threat detection techniques to enhance overall security posture working with other Threat Hunters. The role involves executing threat hunts using established methodologies collaborating on the development of hunt scenarios and communicating findings analyzing security events and logs to identify potential threats and validating detection techniques to improve accuracy. Additionally you will have the opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of detection infrastructure through process improvements and automation.

This is a 4 month coop opportunity.
How youll succeed
Threat Hunting Through the use of various security tools and intelligence feeds you will build detection content identify and assess cyber threats.
Technical Skills You will leverage scripting and automation for continuous improvements and enhancements of threat detection capabilities.
Communication Skills You will package and communicate threats and associated detection techniques to other team members for collaborative problem solving and knowledge sharing.
Organization Skills You will need to have organization and planning skills sufficient to schedule organize and carry out work assignments and independently adjust work schedules accordingly.
Learning agility You have a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities are an asset.
Who you are
You are drawn to cyber security. You have an interest in the various aspects of cyber security and risk. Youre currently enrolled in a postsecondary Information Security Computer Science Engineering or a related program.
Youre technologically savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends. Experience with automation Python PowerShell and/or Jupyter Notebooks is an asset.
You know that details matter. You notice things that others dont. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.
You enjoy problem solving. You enjoy being presented with problems or issues and working with a team to find innovative solutions.
You have strong organization skills. Your time management skills are strong and you are able to prioritize competing priorities to ensure successful outcomes. Knowledge of Jira or confluence is preferred but not a necessity.
