Job Description

Supervisor Distribution Planning

Reporting to the Regional Manager the Supervisor Distribution Planning will be responsible for the effective operation of this key department which includes the management and leadership of the electrical distribution planning team. The candidate will be responsible for providing guidance on the development and implementation of electrical distribution system plans considering budgets and deadlines as well as related actions for improvement in incident prevention and output quality. This position is also responsible for maintaining the GIS/OMS and project management of the electrical systems throughout the service area. This position will reinforce the companys core values the health and safety policies/procedures and comply with all external legislation and standards.

The incumbent will have practical knowledge of industry rules common electrical utility practices regulations (such as but not limited to the OEB CEC and EUSA) and a demonstrated competency to maintain positive customer relationships work with external consultants foster harmonious labour relations provide support as required and seek process improvement opportunities. To be successful in this position the candidate will require a combination of sound technical knowledge willingness to learn problem solving capabilities and the ability to develop/maintain relationships with all levels of the organization. We are seeking a candidate who meets the following qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology with eligibility to register with OACETT or equivalent trade and field experience in the electrical power industry will be considered;P. Eng Electrical Engineering would also be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of electrical utility experience preferably in a regulated utility environment and experience supervising within a unionized environment.
  • Fundamental understanding of power systems and distribution system planning.
  • Practical knowledge of the Ontario Energy Board regulations and common electrical energy practices.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment and have strong organizational interpersonal and communications skills to effectively address daytoday operations of the department internally and externally.
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Unrelenting commitment and passion to safety ethics and mindset to strive for continuous improvements in the workplace.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario G license with a clean driving abstract
