The Manager Accounts Receivable and Patient Revenue is responsible for leading and optimizing the billing and accounts receivables functions for Halton Healthcare while adhering to organization policies and procedures insurance and ministry guidelines and industry practices. This position has eight direct reports and will guide all day to day billing and collections processes while mentoring staff and collaborating with peers throughout the Hospital to implement best industry practices. The Manager Accounts Receivable & Patient Revenue is an important part of the finance team ensuring that monthly reporting is accurate and providing instrumental insights into operational performance and opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Oversee Hospital billing and collections for three hospital sites ensuring accuracy completeness and efficiency while adhering to hospital policy legislation and upholding excellent customer service and patient experience.
- Lead a team of eight staff guiding development with handson support providing coaching and mentorship preparation and delivery of performance evaluations and goal setting
- Formalize departmental deliverables organize workload and coordinate hospital billing and accounts receivable team in task planning execution and success management
- Critically assess operations on an ongoing basis to identify and implement changes that are thoughtfully planned to make the best use of people tools and financial resources.
- Lead billing/collection meetings with patients and/or patients families as required
- Monitor aging of accounts receivable and initiate programs to facilitate timely collection of outstanding receivables
- Maintain the integrity of the billing systems and processes. This position is responsible for managing the Meditech Billing/Accounts Receivable (RCG) module; including updating dictionaries testing upgrades and is a primary liaison with internal and external
- Work collaboratively with Clinical Operations Medical Affairs Patient Registration Patient Relations and Health Information to enhance patient experience with hospital billing and accounts receivable processes
- Responsible for the month end close processes for the Accounts Receivable subledger including preparation of journal entries account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Liase with external auditors leading the audit of accounts receivable and patient revenue
- Develop & maintain organizational polices related to the accounts receivable billing and collections with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ad hoc reporting to support decision making perform operational analysis and identify efficiencies
- Other duties as assigned

- 35 years of progressive leadership experience in billing and receivables with a notable track record of success.
- Thorough understanding of regulations/legislation relating to hospital billing and accounts receivable operations in Ontario and Canada (ie. Hospital Insurance Act)
- Diploma or university degree in Business Administration or Accounting is preferred
- A recognized accounting designation is preferred
- Strong relationship building and team leadership skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders in a complex multistakeholder environment including Senior Leadership clinical and physician leadership and leaders of other enabling services such as Registration Patient Relations and Health Information and Informatics.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills combined with critical thinking and a customerfocused mindset
- An engaged leader with excellent people management skills able to develop and inspire a diverse team of high performers supporting their learning and growth and troubleshooting in a collaborative manner to eliminate barriers and optimize operational processes
- Strategic conceptual thinker with the ability to integrate big picture thinking into operations
- Sound business judgement and excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Advanced computer skills including MS Teams MS Outlook MS Office Word Excel PowerPoint Internet based programs
- Working knowledge of Meditech Billing and Accounts Receivable systems preferred.
- Experience in ERP systems administration is an asset
- Physically able to sit stand walk occasional lift and/or carry approximately 20lbs
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Status: Permanent Fulltime
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.5 hour day shifts;(Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $48.746 to $60.393
