As a growing biotech company based in Nivelles Belgium focused on delivering innovative life sciences solutions we are looking for a Procurement Manager to ensure and optimize our purchasing activities ensuring alignment with quality standards budget constraints and our dynamic R&D/ LCM and production needs.
You will report to the Senior Plant Manager and work as part of a dynamic operations team contributing to the delivery of endtoend supply chain solutions.
ROLE:
As Procurement Manager you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies managing supplier relationships and ensuring timely costeffective and compliant procurement of goods and servicesparticularly those critical to biotech manufacturing and research. This role bridges scientific technical and operational domains and plays a key part in enabling our teams to meet project and product delivery goals.
You will also lead and coach a small team of procurement professionals ensuring alignment efficiency and continuous development within the function.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives and biotech industry best practices.
- Manage endtoend procurement processes for R&D/ LCM material production components capital equipment and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers including negotiating contracts terms and pricing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and quality standards (e.g. GMP ISO REACH local biotechspecific regulations).
- Collaborate closely with R&D/ LCM Quality Assurance Manufacturing and Finance teams to forecast demand and plan purchases accordingly.
- Monitor supplier performance and perform risk assessments to ensure continuity and quality of supply.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality and reliability.
- Implement and optimize procurement tools and ERP systems; contribute to procurement reporting and KPIs.
- Contribute to sustainability and ethical sourcing practices within the supply chain.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Supply Chain Management Life Sciences Engineering or related field.
- 35 years of experience in procurement ideally within biotech pharmaceutical or manufacturing environments.
- Solid understanding of biotech manufacturing lab materials and quality compliance requirements.
- Strong negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Some experience in guiding or coordinating colleagues with a willingness to grow leadership capabilities.
- Fluent in English & French or minimum strong professional proficiency.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. ODOO ORACLE or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel PowerPoint Word Outlook); confident using digital collaboration platforms.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to manage priorities in a fastpaced scaleup environment.
- APICS certification or other procurement/supply chain certificates are a plus.
