DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
KASK & Conservatorium offers a place for free research that is embedded in a local national and international context. Researchers from different disciplines can develop their research process there in critical dialogue with the world.
The research at KASK & Conservatorium starts from or is closely related to individual or collective art and design practices. This research aims at both an internal and an external transformation. The artistic practice the artists/designers themselves and their reflection on the practice emerge differently from the process. In addition they also aim for a transformation in the wider world be it in education a particular discipline society ... These transformations can take place by the sharing of the research processes and artistic and discursive results with the world.

As a postdoctoral artistic assistant you will work on a postdoctoral research project in the arts and join one of the research clusters where you will actively contribute to a stimulating research environment together with other researchers.
The parttime assignment consists of 50% research and 30% teaching within your area of expertise. After a period of three years the progress of the research will be evaluated and if the assessment is favourable a second term of three years will commence concluding with a final report.
Five interdisciplinary research clusters form the anchor points of Research in the Arts at KASK & Conservatorium. Your research project must be related to one of them:

We offer one parttime statutory appointment of 80% in a vacant position to start no earlier than 1 February 2026. The appointment is initially for a period of three years which may be extended once for a period of three years on the basis of a positive assessment.
Remuneration is in accordance with scale 510.
In addition to any financial seniority from the public sector service in the private sector may be taken into account in the financial seniority. This will be granted on the basis of employment certificates or artistic portfolio and after examination of the case.
Commuting by public transport will be reimbursed for oneway trajectories of 250 km. If you come by bicycle you will receive an allowance for this. In addition we offer you a monthly internet allowance of 20 attractive leisure activities and a staff card with additional benefits.

The procedure starts with a preselection based on completeness and admission requirements. The selection committee will then select candidates (first on the basis of the artistic portfolio and then on the basis of the research proposal) who will be invited for a selection interview.
If a final decision cannot be made after the first round of selection interviews candidates may be invited for a second round of interviews.
The selection interviews are scheduled for December 2025. Candidates who are not selected will be notified after the selection procedure has been completed.
