About the Role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 or 3 Speech Pathologist to join the community rehabilitation team on a part time short term basis. The Speech Pathologist will deliver high quality personcentered goalorientated home and centrebased care within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Classifications for this position will range from VW1 VW4 ($90235.60 $103724.40 for Grade 2 per annum pro rata for part time).

HIP at SVHM is delivered in partnership with North Richmond Community Health (NRCH).
This position is part of the HIP Community Rehabilitation team. Community rehabilitation is currently provided from our centres at Kew and Fairfield.
The key aim of Community Rehabilitation is to help people who are recovering from traumatic injury or illness are frail or chronically ill to regain optimal function and to allow people to maximise their independence.

HIP Community Rehabilitation Services. Community Rehabilitation Services provide timelimited goalorientated care for people who have a physical disability are frail chronically ill or recovering from traumatic injury or illness to regain and /or maintain optimal function. Community Rehabilitation services comprise of Community Rehabilitation Centres at Fairfield and Kew and Rehabilitation in the Home.
This position may require working from any of the SVHM Health Independence Program (HIP) sites and may be required to work within any of the HIP programs. This will be at the discretion of the HIP manager and will take into consideration appropriate skills and training.

PURPOSE
To work within a flexible interdisciplinary structure that ensures the delivery of high quality therapy services to all clients of HIP Rehabilitation services making sure that the clients needs are met and they receive the right treatment in the right place at the right time.
The position will also be responsible for driving standards of care within the rehabilitation team including leading and contributing to improvement projects within the service.
Clinicians are required to provide assessment and management of clients in a number of settings across the continuum of care within HIP including clients residence community settings the HIP Centres or Specialist Clinics.
DUTIES
- Assess and manage all assigned clients as appropriate according to HIP and St. Vincents policies and procedures and relevant rehabilitation protocols. There is a significant clinical component of this role.
- Provide clinical leadership in maintaining an evidence and outcomes based service
- Supervision guidance and support to HIP speech pathologists as required
- Achieve activity KPIs for relevant service
- Participate in relevant inservice programs and meetings
- Provide student / allied health assistant supervision as required
- Maintain accurate statistics and submit by end of working week/ end of month (whichever occurs first).
- Maintain the appropriate standard of medical record keeping and data collection as per St. Vincents and HIP policies.
- Speech pathology service provision to other programs within HIP as required

- Complete client goal setting in consultation with patient/family/carers as appropriate. Goals are to be functional and measurable
- Evaluate treatment / management using the most appropriate methods making use of objective measures where possible
- Perform videofluoroscopy assessments and reporting as required
- Achieve activity KPIs for relevant service through maintenance of accurate statistics submitted by end of working week
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical best practice and rehabilitation
- Participating in internal and external professional development where appropriate
- Provide clinical supervision to speech pathology students / allied health assistants as required
- Maintain close working relationships with other HIP speech pathologists and the SVHM Speech Pathology department

8.2 OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of four (4) years postgraduate experience in adult rehabilitation and or communitybased speech pathology service
- A demonstrated sound knowledge and application of speech pathology practice and principles in speech pathology management of patients with disorders of communication cognition and swallowing of neurological origin in a rehabilitation setting.
