Job Description

Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Human Resources team sits within Councils Corporate Performance Directorate and is responsible for a diverse range of services across Cumberland supporting people leaders across the employee lifecycle. This includes advice on team structures recruitment employee and industrial relations and learning and development as well as contributing to key organisation initiatives and HR projects.

The team were the recipients of the 2022 Employment Diversity Metro Award at the Ministers Awards for Women in Local Government and received an Honourable Mention at the 2023 National Awards for Local Government for our Mentoring and Development Program and proudly deliver internal services which educate inspire and build the capability of our leaders and staff.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning and Development Officer to join our Organisation Development team to assist with developing the capabilities of employees across the organisation.

Reporting to the Coordinator Organisation Development the role will work closely to coordinate and support the delivery of effective Learning and Development programs including elearning modules organisation development initiatives and will be responsible for administering Councils Learning Management System.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or significant experience in the area of training and development
  • Experience administering an online Learning Management System (LMS) and elearning content creation tools
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating training programs
  • Previous experience in the delivery of training assessment and mentoring
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • High level of written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Welldeveloped time management skills
  • Sound knowledge of training and development principles and practices
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
  • Class C drivers licence.
