About the Role

The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for supporting efficient and effective endtoend payroll services across a payroll of 17000 employees. This is achieved through accurate processing of weekly and periodic payroll tasks such as onboarding new employees masterfile changes employee terminations exception report checking processing of superannuation payroll tax and end of period financerelated tasks.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • processing weekly masterfile changes onboarding new employees exception checking and complex employee terminations
  • processing employee allowances and deductions and managing remittances to external vendors including government agencies (eg. child support government paid parental leave novated leases)
  • responding to employee and manager queries including award interpretation and payrollrelated time and attendance queries
  • processing monthly superannuation reconciliations and remittance to clearing house
  • processing monthly payroll tax remittance across all states (except ACT)
  • undertaking weekly / monthly balance sheet reconciliations

As the Payroll Officer you will bring to the role the following skills experience and attributes:

  • Experience working in a highvolume fastpaced weekly payroll (employees)
  • Experience working with payroll systems and time and attendance systems
  • High level numeracy and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills in particular Excel
  • Experience with payroll reporting tools highly regarded (eg. Crystal reporting)
  • Sound knowledge of payrollrelated legislation including superannuation tax and Fair Work
  • Experience with documenting payroll procedures
  • Demonstrated accounting knowledge and understanding of the correlation between Payroll and Finance
  • Payroll Certification (eg APA or TAPS) preferred but not essential
