About the Organisation
Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service (SPS). This partnership is aligned with the Victorian Governments wider Pathology system reform to create new public pathology networks. The Shared Pathology Service was successful in tendering for the provision of Pathology Services at Western Health including the laboratories at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine. We are working in partnership to ensure we meet future demands and continue to provide high quality pathology services for our patients and the community across both health service.
The Role
Initially this role will be responsible for supporting the Supervising Scientist in Clinical Chemistry with the setup and verification of new instruments across the Western Health Laboratories (WH) at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital. The incumbent will carryout daytoday equipment maintenance perform quality control stocktake and unpacking of deliveries and quality assurance programs as required.
The position will require the incumbent to work on premises under construction and will need to wear appropriate personal protective equipment whilst on these premises. These include but are not limited to Safety Helmet steeltoe covered footwear safety glasses and highvisibility vests. As such the position will require a White Card qualification the cost of which will be covered by the SPS.
When the Western Health laboratories become operational this role will transition to being an active member of the Core Laboratory requiring the incumbent to rotate through various sections of the laboratory (Clinical Chemistry Haematology and Transfusion) and perform specimen reception duties across the Shared Pathology Service including but not limited to the Prahran Laboratory New Footscray and Sunshine Laboratories. The role requires participation in a 24/7 rotating roster and an oncall roster afterhours. across the Shared Pathology Service including but not limited to the Prahran Laboratory New Footscray and Sunshine Laboratories. Key Skills and Qualification(s)
Desirable requirements:
Experience using statistical analysis software to interpret method correlation studies e.g. analyseit.
