I. Job Summary
As a member of the Waste Management People organization the People Advisor is tasked with providing tactical responsive HR support to individual contributors in assigned business units and/or functions. The position serves as the first point of contact and trusted advisor for employee relations issues and human resources policies and processes.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides reliable and timely coaching and counseling to employees on issues to ensure consistent transparent application of policies procedures and employments laws.
Identifies communicates and resolves complex employee relations issues balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company policies and employment laws.
Serves as the local People point of contact supporting/delivering internal processes including Performance Management New Hire Orientation and Exit interviews.
Conducts training on company policy programs and other issues as they arise.
Partners and participates with local team(s) on recruitment outreach efforts.
Serves as an active member of People related project teams as assigned.
Serves as a mentor to others within the People department by providing technical advice and guidance.
Assists the People Manager in the development and maintenance of processes and policies as well as new initiatives.
Apprise and escalates potential legal risk safety etc. concerns to the People Manager.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory duties.

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Human Resources Business Administration or similar area of study or in lieu of degree High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
Experience: Four (4) years of relevant work experience in a People Advisor or Generalist capacity.

B. Certificates Licenses Registrations or Other Requirements

PHR SHRMCP or CHRP Certification preferred.

C. Other Knowledge Skills or Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Approachable and responsive resource able to connect with employees at all levels.
Solutionsoriented approach to problem solving and conflict resolution with a strong drive to create a positive work environment.
Strong internal and external customer focus.
Selfmotivated; ability to navigate complex environments get answers and autonomously drive solutions.
Comfortable with high volume workload and able to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
Strong working knowledge of employment laws and regulations and the ability to appropriately assess risk.
Ability to use experience and judgment to make decisions that may be based on imperfect or incomplete information.
Ability to recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to solving problems
Comfort with ambiguity; strong learning agility mindset to embrace and drive change.

V. Work Environment
Listed below are key points regarding environmental demands and work environment of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding machine operation etc.) most of the work day;
Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely;
Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts burns exposure to toxic chemicals etc.) rarely;
Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt odors noise weather extremes or similar elements rarely;
Normal setting for this job is an office setting however operational site visits are required with exposure to weather and areas where large equipment is operated.
Ability to travel 10% 30% of the time depending upon geographic span of responsibility.

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $88515. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factorsincluding the candidates relevant experience education training certifications qualifications and work location.
