Job Description

NLC is looking for someone passionate about Indigenous land climate and culture to lead a powerful program rooted in purpose.

About the Role

As our new Environmental Markets Coordinator youll be at the forefront of shaping and delivering the Northern Land Councils (NLC) Environmental Market Program starting with the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC)funded Savanna Fire Management (SFM) initiative. Youll work directly with Traditional Owners Aboriginal corporations and Indigenous landholders across the Northern Territory to develop sustainable culturally informed carbon projects and other environmental market enterprises. Your work will help generate meaningful income for Aboriginal communities while protecting country and culture for future generations.

What you will Bring

Youre an experienced project leader with strong skills in environmental markets policy and Indigenous engagement. With excellent planning and relationshipbuilding skills youll ensure projects are not only well executed but deeply grounded in community priorities and longterm sustainability. Your communication is clear and accessible and your leadership style is all about respect collaboration and capability building. In addition to this you will have:

  • Degree level qualifications in a relevant field such as Business and / or Environmental Sciences.
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience including previous experience in the carbon market demonstrating technical expertise in environmental market business development and knowledge of the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme.
  • Understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act 1976 and other legislation relevant to the land interests of traditional owners and Aboriginal communities as managed by the NLC.
  • Current Northern Territory Drivers licence and ability to travel to or within remote areas as required.

  • Abase salary of $110763per annum plus14.5% superannuationandsalary sacrificingup to $15900 Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
    • District allowanceof up to $4797 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2630 without dependents.
    • 5weeks annual leave leaving loading 18 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmasclose down;
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service anAnnual airfarewith a net (in hand) value of $2961
