Job Description

Seeking an experienced Health Information Services Manager to join our team at Aegis Health on a permanent Fulltime basis.

About the Role

The position provides leadership for the health information management related portfolios including ensuring ongoing clinical ICT system readiness and integration. The position ensure compliance with legal requirements improves the security and quality of health data enhances patient care and contributes to operational efficiencies. This position is critical in supporting the integration of digital health technologies safeguarding patient privacy and optimising HIM practices for the benefit of patients and healthcare providers

Position Objectives:

Health Information Management

Lead and manage the contemporary health information management business processes and systems.

Lead the daytoday operations of health information management including administration staff and ward clerks across Aegis Health.

Develop and maintain the Aegis Health HIMS related policies and procedures framework.

Manage the compliance of data provision under the legislative requirements including clinical classifications.

Ensuring appropriate compliance reporting against Key Performance Indicators and State and Commonwealth legislation relevant to Privacy and Retention of Health Information.

Clinical Coding and Private Patient Billing

Ensure day to day management of the Clinical Coding team.

Adherence to Clinical Coding industry standards by ensuring all patient data managed and coded on a timely basis.

Conduct random clinical coding audits to ensure preparedness for private health fund audits.

Engage with VMOs and other clinical staff such as junior medical staff to ensure delivery of basic education regarding appropriate clinical documentation and billing practices.

Act as liaison between the clinical coders and the private patient billing team to ensure monitoring of relevant KPIs and adherence to financial obligations.

Clinical ICT Systems

Maintain oversight over the suite of digital health applications at Aegis Health including (but not limited to Patient Administration Systems Practice Management Systems Clinical Incident and Risk Management System).

Act as the intermediary of all vendors of key clinical software applications including contractual compliance.

Liaise with Aegis Head Office for all general IT and ICT issues for prompt resolution.

Requirements of the Role

Essential:

Demonstrated experience in a HIMS management role.

Experience in Clinical Coding and management of a clinical coding team.

Experience in implementation of integrated digital health platforms in a hospital setting.

Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards related to HIMS functions.

Ability to multitask and manage conflicting demands.

Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise own workload contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment and respond flexibly to meet emerging demands.

Professional approach to liaising with all Health Care Practitioners Staff and Fellow Colleagues.

Desirable:

Experience with key health care specific digital applications including PAS systems.

Exposure to private patient billing.

Experience with private health insurance reporting and audit requirements.

You will be required to have or obtain:

  • Verification of eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Identification check validation.
  • Police check clearance.
  • Working with Children (WWC) check.
