Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for planning organizing and directing the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department; ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. Participates in the departments planning revenue analysis budgeting education and human resources activities. In addition to the Essential Functions of the Staff Pharmacist the Pharmacy Director will have the Essential Functions listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Works with hospital administration on planning organizing and directing Pharmacy Department operations and ensuring compliance with all local state and federal regulations.

Monitors activities of the Pharmacy Department and takes appropriate action as necessary to ensure efficient and effective operation.

Directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals.

Oversees the storage and distribution of all pharmaceutical items in departmental and patient care locations.

Directs and participates in the development/revision implementation and communication of policies guidelines formularies and standards for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with the hospitals policies federal and state regulations.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested to support the overall needs of the department and in accordance with Curry Health Networks Mission Vision and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent from an accredited School of Pharmacy

Current Oregon State Pharmacist license.

Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education or subsequent training.

Prior leadership experience preferred.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of Oregon Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations to ensure adherence to all requirements.

Basic computer knowledge.

Effective organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
