Senior Director of Software EngineeringWhat does a successful Senior Director of Software Engineering do at Fiserv
Youll be a key leader of success of our Core Acquiring Authorization engineering group within the Fiserv Merchant Solutions (Payment Acceptance) business. We process over 350 million payment transactions per day with a peak throughput of over 8000 transactions per second while maintaining millisecondfast response time; all of this is done for some of the largest merchants in the U.S. In this fastpaced online transaction processing environment youll be a passionate critical problemsolver who can balance platform stability and resiliency along with modern engineering practices and solutions.
What you will do:
- Lead manage mentor and inspire multiple teams of software engineers
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs conduct performance reviews and support career development for all the team members
- Drive modernization and migration of several realtime applications to AWS that are lowlatency highvolume APIs that run 24x7 supporting critical business processes
- Reengineer onpremises applications to highly resilient highly available lowlatency applications running on AWS
- Develop and document highquality code to solve strategically important problems
- Provide highquality code and design review feedback to other engineers while defining and leading the adoption of standards and best practices
What you will need to have:
- 15 years of experience in software engineering or similar roles
- 10 years of experience in one or more generalpurpose programming language such as C or Java
- 5 years of handson leadership experience with Payments Processing at large scale
- 5 years in a leadership role with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives and setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives
- 5 years of practical cloudnative experience including AWS
- 5 years of experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures
- 2 years of experience leading cloud transformation in a payments or financial services environment
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education military and work experience
What would be great to have:
- Knowledge of international payment systems and crossborder transactions
- Experience with cloudbased payment solutions and infrastructure
- Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as blockchain AI and machine learning
- Experience in CI/CD pipeline and related opensource tools like Jenkins GitLab and SonarQube
