Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of Energy Transition projects in the MidAtlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States with a focus on Virginia. This position would encompass multiple sectors including oil and gas renewable energies linear utilities and rail and transit. Tasks may include site layouts grading hydraulic modeling utility design stormwater management and erosion and sediment control design. You will have the ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner to deliver the very best solutions to our clients. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities. While the location of this position is flexible and remote work opportunities are available the ideal candidate would be located near one of the following cities: Lexington or Louisville Kentucky; Hanover Maryland; Buffalo Syracuse or Albany New York; Pittsburgh or Philadelphia Pennsylvania; Richmond or Virginia Beach Virginia.

Role accountabilities:

As a Civil/Environmental Engineer you will apply your technical knowledge to work with local national and global technical and client teams to provide high quality deliverables to support planning design and permitting for renewable energy oil and gas linear utilities and rail clients.

• Develop engineering designs for permitting or construction purposes including design drawings and details technical specifications presentations cost estimates land development planning hydraulic modeling/calculations erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout and earthwork site design
• Use your technical writing and communications skills to develop regulatory permit application packages technical documents and reports work plans memoranda and other environmental documents to support design/permitting activities
• Field opportunities such as contractor oversight site walk site inspections
• Understanding of Annual Standards and Specifications
• Officebased support of active construction projects (e.g. submittal reviews field change documentation site layout information)
• Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. The candidate will have a strong desire to pursue a career in the civil and/or environmental engineering sector

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience with the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Regulation from the Virginia Administrative Code (9VACet seq) and the technical requirements and permitting including Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) Permit for Discharges of Stormwater from Construction Activities NoticeofTerminations (NOTs) Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) Analysis Erosion and Sediment Control Best Management Practices (BMPs) and Stormwater Management BMPs.

• Licensed Professional Engineer preferably in Virginia or willingness to obtain via reciprocity with a minimum of five years of professional experience in the civil/environmental field. Familiarity with AutoCAD Autodesk Civil 3D or other terrain modeling design software and experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (e.g. HydroCAD WinTR55 PondPack HECRAS)
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Chemical or Civil Engineering or closely related field. Experience leading civil or environmental projects including land development erosion and sediment control and stormwater permitting design teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
• Virginia Department of Environmental Quality training and certifications for any of the following: Responsible Land Disturber (RLD) Qualified Person (QP) Erosion and Sediment Control plan reviewer inspector or program administrator and Stormwater Management plan reviewer inspector or program administrator
• Trainings and certification for Inspection in Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control in Virginia
• PE License in Virginia with 810 years of experience in civil/environmental engineering projects including task/project management experience

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
