Job Description

Job Summary
The Youth Program Specialist will be responsible for delivering highquality engaging lesson plans that align with the Grant Agreement Project Work Plan and Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) Standards. This role involves building strong relationships with youth and their families supporting youth leadership in the community and ensuring participation and retention through ongoing communication and followup.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for youth that are aligned with Grant Agreement Project Work Plan and Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) Standards.
  • Work effectively with youth and families to support youth leadership in the community.
  • Actively engage in assigned program activities with youth providing support and encouragement throughout.
  • Build relationships with youth/families by providing followup communication and support and actively invite them to upcoming events to encourage participation and retention.
  • Qualify potential participants for eligibility in the program. Establish new files (if needed) or update previous files for each participant ensuring compliance with the Grant Agreement.
  • Coordinate quarterly guest speakers to engage students in discussions about Youth Leadership Skills and share their personal stories. Collaborate with Site Coordinator and School personnel to ensure effective planning and communication of the event.
  • Collaborate with the Mentoring Coordinator to identify a minimum of three students each month who would benefit from the CYD Mentoring Program. Initiate contact with parents facilitate connections with the Mentoring Coordinator and encourage student participation in the program.
  • Serve as a representative at youth fairs seminars and other outreach activities to educate families about CYD as needed to fulfill the CYD grant requirements.
  • Attend program and allstaff meetings as well as training directed by the CYD Site Coordinator CYD Program Director or Executive Director including potential outoftown and overnight travel as required.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures including those related to health and safety client confidentiality and quality management.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the CYD Site Coordinator or CYD Program Director.
Job Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma bachelors degree preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to both develop and present educational material to youth in an engaging and impactful way.
  • Excellent networking skills with the ability to build longlasting connections and partnerships that support CYDs purpose.
  • Learn and support the YWCA mission vision and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise.
  • Always present oneself professionally in appearance and mannerisms.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time including evenings or weekends.
  • Frequent local travel is required; must possess a valid drivers license and car insurance.
  • Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
  • Familiarity with all legal and company requirements related to serving youth in appropriate and inspiring ways.
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivities.
  • Maintain a current first aid and CPR certification.
  • Good computer skills (Word Excel Canva PowerPoint).

  • Work with youth and teens up to eight hours a day.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally work at outdoor and indoor events for extended periods of time.
