Toronto is on the verge of something big and at Modern Niagara were thrilled to be in the thick of it. From stateoftheart hospitals to cuttingedge research hubs the GTAs next landmarks are taking shapepowered by the skill and grit of UA Local 46 members. As we gear up for a wave of cityshaping projects Modern Niagara is looking for Plumbing & Heating General Forepeople to take the lead on major mechanical builds across the GTA. This is your shot to step onto highprofile sites take real ownership and be backed by a team that knows what it means to build.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
A Piping General Foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing piping installation ensuring safety compliance and managing workforce efficiency on construction or industrial sites. Their responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Supervision Directs and coordinates piping crews foremen and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Planning & Scheduling Develops work schedules assigns tasks and ensures project timelines are met.
- Quality Control Reviews piping work for compliance with engineering drawings specifications and industry standards.
- Safety Enforcement Ensures all safety regulations are followed conducts site inspections and facilitates safety meetings.
- Material & Equipment Management Oversees procurement inventory and proper use of piping materials and tools.
- Collaboration Works closely with project managers engineers and other trades to resolve technical issues and maintain workflow.
- ProblemSolving Identifies and addresses any operational or technical challenges related to piping installations.
- Training & Mentorship Guides and develops junior employees ensuring proper work practices and skill development.
- Documentation & Reporting Maintains accurate records of labour productivity per their labour plans work progress safety reports and any changes to the project scope.
A Piping General Foreman is instrumental in ensuring that piping projects are completed safely efficiently and up to standard.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Trade Qualification ie: Plumbing License or Fitters License
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Excellent verbal and written communication time management and multitasking in order to prioritize workload and stay on top of things as project demands increase.
- Excellent organizational and decision making/problem solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and understand construction drawings associated documentation contracts cost coding systems and work breakdown structures.
- Customer focused & resourceful
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles and ability to effectively plan assign and inspect the work of subordinates.
- Ability to maintain time and material records and to prepare reports and cost estimates.
- Skill in the use of the tools and equipment of the trade.
- Experience in commercial and institutional projects is an asset
