You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe University of Southern Maines School of Nursing Online MSN Program is seeking applications for anticipated PartTime Faculty positions for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Our Fall semester begins September 1 2025. These positions involve teaching graduate level nursing students enrolled in our MSN online nursing program.
There will also be required training and orientation sessions before the start of the semester specific to the course(s) the selected individual will be teaching.
Faculty responsibilities include orienting teaching supervising grading and evaluating prelicensure nursing students. These roles offer an excellent opportunity for nursing professionals to contribute to the development of future nurses while benefiting from a supportive teaching environment.
We are seeking instructors for the following courses:
Healthcare Operations: Human Resources Law and Ethics (NUR 629) Fall 2025: This course examines operational issues in health care management inclusive of human resource management and legal and ethical issues facing nurse leaders. A range of current legal and ethical issues will be explored. Emphasis is placed on planning performance and compliance in the health care environment. The goals are to provide students with practical knowledge to effectively manage at the micro meso or macro level.
Chronic Illness Care (NUR 612) Spring 2026: This course emphasizes human responses to chronic illness and disability while exploring factors that have an impact on biopsychosocial adaptation. The care of those individuals with a chronic health condition requires a shift in perspective to a care paradigm versus a cure paradigm. This course allows learners to explore chronic illness throughout the lifespan by studying its impact on families healthcare professionals and healthcare systems.
Leadership in Advanced Nursing Practice (NUR 614) Spring 2026: This course focuses on the knowledge skills attitudes and competencies required of an effective interprofessional leader working in complex health care environments. Leadership theories are explored that account for individual traits and behaviors as well as the situational context within the work environment. Principles of management and leadership are contrasted. Leadership practices are appraised that support a culture of caring and mutual respect vision and innovation accountability integrity and highquality patientcentered care. Reflection and appraisal of personal leadership attributes and behaviors are emphasized.
Parttime faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. Eligible parttime faculty members may elect certain benefitsprovided by the University of Maine System. In addition The Center for Academic Innovationprovides learning design consulting and faculty development opportunities to help faculty to create engaging programs courses and lesson plans grounded in evidencebased best practices for every modality.
