About the role
The Enphase System Control Innovation (SCI) team in the office of the CTO is responsible for defining prototyping and supporting the next generation system control solutions for Enphase products. The team is an integrated multidisciplinary group that is fastmoving and looking for motivated individuals that can contribute and collaborate closely with the team to deliver innovative solutions. As a member of the SCI team you will solve some of the most exciting problems in the distributed energy space and help shape the direction of our products.
The Enphase SCI team is seeking a Staff Hardware Design Engineer to develop integrate and validate electronic hardware for next generation energy system control products and improve current designs.
What you will do
- Create innovative embedded and power hardware integration designs to support next generation energy system products
- Specification design schematic capture layout prototyping and debug of complex circuits PCBs electromechanical components and electrical assemblies including highspeed digital processing and communications sensors relays power protection and power conditioning subsystems
- Handson bring up and performance characterization of hardware circuits PCBs and energy system hardware (relays power meters power converters communications devices etc.)
- Apply simulation hardwareintheloop testing and prototype testing to ensure designs meet functionality and performance requirements
- Support manufacturing of electronic design hardware electrical assemblies and PCBAs for prototype products
- Optimize product solutions with firmware/hardware control codesign
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to test and troubleshoot prototype designs
- Mentor junior staff
Who you are and What you bring
- BS/MS/PhD Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics or closely related discipline
- Job title and position level will be determined upon the candidates experience.
- Minimum experience: BS and 5 years / MS and 3 years / PhD with electronics design experience for a Senior Engineer
- BS and 8 years / MS and 6 years / PhD and 3 years electronics design experience for a Staff Engineer
- Candidates with greater levels of experience may be considered and are encouraged to apply
- Strong digital mixedsignal discrete and embedded hardware design skills with commercial product experience
- Experience integrating complex circuits embedded hardware power electronics and/or power components in commercial products
- Proficiency with one or more commercial schematic capture tools such as OrCAD Capture
- Experience laying out PCBA subsections and/or full PCBAs using layout tools such as Cadence Allegro
- Handson experience building and testing electronics and electromechanical assemblies
- Expertise with developing solutions that consider computational performance cost power dissipation thermal management electromagnetic compatibility reliability and manufacturability
- Ability to troubleshoot hardwarerelated issues within complex systems and drive solutions
- Proficiency with lab equipment including power meters electronic loads power supplies oscilloscopes etc.
- Ability to take ownership of development tasks and drive them to completion in a timely manner and with high quality to support team success
Additional Desired Skills
- Highvolume energy system product development experience
- Experience with high voltage and high current circuits PCBs and components
- Familiarity with power electronics circuits/designs and devices
- Experience using OrCAD for schematic capture and Cadence Allegro for PCB layout
- Proficiency with devices interfaces and protocols for industrial communications such as Controller Area Network (CAN) IEC61850 TCP/IP RS485 etc.
- Familiarity with power system integration installation and safety codes and standards such as UL 1741 IEEE 1547 UL 3010 and NFPA 70 (NEC)
- Familiarity with power hardware component safety and compliance standards such as UL 508 IEC/UL 618101 UL 2808 UL 489 UL 1077 IEC/UL 610581 etc.

Hybrid position (at least 3 days in the office per week) based in Austin TX
The base pay range for this position is $100000 to $151000. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on jobrelated skills experience education or training work location and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonus equity and benefits.
