  • Position Title: Truck Driver Training Specialist
    Department: Business Outreach Office (BUO)
    Division: Workforce Development (WOD)
    Employee Status: Fulltime
    Type: Support Staff Association (SSAUnion)
    Grade: 11 ($26.00 hourly)
    FLSA: Nonexempt

    Reporting Relationships
    Reports to:
    Dean of Workforce Development
    Supervision Exercised: None.

    Job Summary
    Provide a variety of teaching/learning activities that prepare students for the class Acommercial drivers license (CDL) examination and an entrylevel position in the trucking industry.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.
    Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program including permits logbooks and trip planning.
    Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program including backing shifting and behind the wheel training.
    Maintain student files in compliance with ICCB and IL Secretary of State standards.
    Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
    Monitor inventory of training supplies ordering when needed.
    Train new consultants to be effective instructors.
    Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
    Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment of students.
    Assist in the development of new programs and changes to existing programs.
    Provide maintenance on equipment in emergency situations.
    Assist in the college planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that impact longrange priority goals.
    Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and any and policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College.

    Minimum Qualifications
    High school diploma or equivalent. Possess a class ACDL drivers license for at least 2 years and a current Department of Transportation medical card. Class A driving experience clean driving record and some training experience.
