Swamper (Summer Term)
Matix Lumber Inc. is a family and locally owned and operated professional building supply centre that provides all of your building needs. We are a building supply and project centre providing project contractors and doit yourself builders with the tools materials design and construction services to support projects of any scale.
Matix Lumber services all sectors of the building industry and offer a comprehensive selection of quality lumber and building materials manufactured by North Americas leading producers. We provide contractors avid builders DIYers and community leaders with the tools construction service and design expertise to support residential and commercial projects from start to finish.
We believe in building collaborative mutually beneficial relationships with everyone we work with and have been able to achieve this through our industry experience sound project execution and visionary thinking.
We are looking for a Swamper to assist during the summer months (June September). The Swamper is directly responsible assisting the Drivers in deliveries as a helper/assistant who performs a variety of tasks such as loading and unloading and warehouse maintenance. The Swamper will be responsible for:
Gathering of all delivery paperwork.
Assisting in loading the truck based on the paperwork.
Ensuring that every load is secured appropriately according to a safety and legal requirements.
Assisting the driver with navigation of specific routes if necessary.
Unloading the truck once the destination has been reached.
Loading and unloading by hand when required lumber roof trusses pallets shingles drywall and other related building materials based on company procedures.
Counting items on every load to ensure the counts match the attached paperwork.
Assisting the warehouse/yard team with staging loads in assigned areas.
Tagging products with relevant (sales order # PO # customer reference etc.) information.
Assisting in the pickup process.
Assisting with operating a 1 or 3ton truck for pickups and/or deliveries when required.
Assisting in the maintenance of the warehouse.
Assisting with yard maintenance including but not limited to grass cutting general cleaning sorting & organizing the warehouse and yard.
Abiding by company safety and regular policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
Full available through the summer.
Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs for an extended period.
Must have a strong work ethic and can work independently as well as within a team environment.
Must have the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Must have a good attention to detail.
Valid class 5 Manitoba Drivers License and experience as a driver is considered an asset.
Monday Friday 40 hours per week (outside of standard hours as needed).
