Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a talented Senior Urban Designer to join us fulltime at our Placemaking Studio in Ottawa.

As our Senior Urban Designer you will also work with senior leadership to grow the Placemaking practice in Ottawa. As a leader and mentor to junior team members you will be instrumental in the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects ranging from neighborhood master plans smart cities urban design TOD transit planning streetscape design parks residential development resorts amongst others for public and private sector clients. You will also collaborate with our Toronto team of Urban Designers Landscape Architects and Planning Professionals on local and international projects of various scales.

Role accountabilities:

• Lead and collaborate with senior leadership through responding and developing the creative content for RFP responses and supportingrelevant marketing and business development initiatives
• CollaboratewithandmentorJunior Urban Designers / Planners / Landscape Architects on a variety of private and public sector urban design landscape architecture master planning and planning projects
• Independentlymanageand lead multidisciplinary teams and assist with project completion from initial proposal compilation to detailed design and report delivery
• Developmasterplans site plans built form and massing for a variety of projects ranging in complexity scope and context
• Prepareand present highquality graphic presentations detailed design schemes and reports
• Engagewith andmanageClients/Stakeholders and ensuredeadlines and budgetary constraints are met for all projects
• Demonstratestrong verbal written and graphic communication skills andensurethat a high level of professionalism and design excellence are upheld within each project

Qualifications & Experience:

• University degree in Architecture Urban Design Landscape Architecture or Planning
• 10 years of experience in Urban Design or related fields in a professional office withprovenexperience leadingandmanagingmultidisciplinaryteams
• Track record of growing and building a book of business within the urban planning sector
• Demonstrated success working with public and private sector clientsin the Ottawa region. Previous experience working with the public sector and IO as clients will be an asset
• Professionalregistrationwith OALA or OAA or OPPI
• Multidisciplinary interestsin Urban Design Landscape ArchitectureTransportationPlanningandUrban /Regional Planning includinga strong awareness/understandingof current planning and design issuesand trends
• Inquisitive and selfmotivated individual withstrong leadership andorganizational skillsable to thrive in a fastpaced project deadline environment centered around design excellence
• Independent design capabilities to preparesite plans and master plan concepts
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills capable of assisting in the preparation of reports and developing design narratives
• Strong software skills related to: 3D modeling SketchUp Rhino Revit AutoCAD Adobe Suite InDesign MS Office etc.
