Candidate must possess the ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward children demonstrating a high level of need and/or intensive behavioral/social/ emotional support; strong interpersonal and effective communication skills; strong knowledge base on the impact of trauma on learning; strong skills in evidencebased strategies for behavior change; strong decisionmaking and problemsolving skills; strong skills in developing behavior improvement plans for targeted behaviors; strong ability to be flexible and remain calm when children demonstrate challenging behavior; strong ability to work independently and collaboratively; willing to be trained in specialized evidencedbased behavioral and crisis management strategies. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of subjects taught; thorough knowledge of early childhood education principles practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; and thorough knowledge of school division rules regulations and procedures. Candidate must have the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and possess or be eligible to acquire appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
